 Martha Vockrodt
Born in Lahaina, Maui in 1952, I have resided on Maui most of my life. My art has been in juried shows since grade school, when Maui's only art venue was the Maui County Fair. After attending Seabury Hall for 3 years - and receiving the Art Award each of those years - I went on to 4 years of college on the mainland, majoring in Fine Arts and minoring in Sculpture.
I paint from life, Maui's beauty, inspired and challenged by light , value and color. From historical scenes to "plein-air" landscapes, there is an "Old Hawaii" theme to my work. Today, despite the changes on Maui, I see and paint "Old Hawaii."
Currently, my art is displayed at Gallery Maui in Makawao, and Maui Giclee in Kihei.
