 Jenifer Prince
My motivation for painting is the joy of discovering something new, whether a color,a form or a feeling. This joy connects me to my highest self and the act of painting then becomes a sacred ritual. Art is observation; of the outer as well as the inner world. A painting or work of art is the bridge to both. I hope that my paintings inspire in you a little of the incredible love and delight I have for the beautiful islands of Hawaii!
Jenifer Higginbotham Prince grew up on the beach at Malibu, surfing, sailing and diving. Her parents, both artists
encouraged her talent and she recieved training at Santa Monica College, Mira Costa College, and U.C.L.A. Her first art shows were in Malibu and she also painted surfboards, murals and furniture. She moved to Kauai in 1978, for further inspiration and of course the surf!
Jenifer works primarily in oils & oil pastel. She is a member of the Kauai Society of Artists and Kauai Outdoor Painters Association and her work is found in collections throughout the United States. Some commercial projects include the Kauai Marriot Hotel, Princeville Ranch Stables, Ching Young Village and Yoga Hanalei. Jenifer has participated in juried shows as well as solo gallery and restaurant shows on Kauai and the mainland. Her studio The VisionWorks! is on the beautiful north shore of Kauai and she is available for commissions or special projects. She has taken workshops with Ken Auster, Camille Prezwodick, Peggy Kroll-Roberts, and Betty Billiups. Pierre Bouret and Siam Caglayans are her mentors and painting partners and she owes a lot to them for her passionate interest in plein air painting. What could be better than painting outside on Kauai?
