Kimi Werner
Kimi Werner was born on the island of Maui and raised Haiku and Makawao. She moved to the island of Oahu at age 18 to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts. Her passions always included art and cooking, and in 2001, she received her Associates degree in Culinary Arts from Kapiolani Community College.
While working in the restaurant industry, Kimi continued art as a hobby, taking classes in her free time. She studied "en plein air" oil painting under Mark Brown, and fell in love with painting outdoors. Long hours in the restaurant industry limited her painting time and soon

Kimi decided to pursue art as a career and leave cooking as a part time hobby.
Today Kimi teaches art at Kuhio Elementary School. She teaches grades Kindergarten through fifth grade and is known fondly by students as "Ms. Kimi". Kimi can also be found doing live paintings at the Hawaii Poetry slams, the nation's largest poetry competition, held monthly at the Hawaiian Hut.
Kimi has received awards and recognition from the John Young Art Foundation, The Windward Artists Guild, and the AHA.
Kimi enjoys painting from life whether she is painting a landscape, a favorite surf spot, or the human figure. She also does sculpture and photography.
