 Mark Norseth
Mark's first experiences painting out-of-doors were as a 12 year old boy, studying alongside Pacific Northwest watercolorist Charles Mulvey.
This encouraging first step led to an early decision to pursue a calling as a professional artist. In the 1980's, Mark moved from his hometown Portland, Oregon to New York City to continue his efforts, working as a freelance illustrator while studying painting. Dissatisfied with his abilities, he earnestly set about deliberately re-training himself "from the ground up", studying drawing, anatomy, oil and pastel painting at schools such as the National Academy of Design, Art Students' League of New York,

He began entering and successfully exhibiting in juried venues in the 1990's, including two Pastel Society of America national exhibitions (Giffuni Foundation Award), Allied Artist's of America, the Adirondack Exhibition of American Watercolors, Academic Artist's Association (Honor Award for Pastel), and the Hudson Valley Art Association's coveted Frank Vincent Dumond Award.
Mark, his wife Iris, and son Erik moved to Hawai'i in the late 90's. The subsequent years

A continuing passion for insight into the human condition, fidelity in materials and workmanship, and dedication to painting the best works that he is capable of have helped him continue to move forward as a painter.Publications such as American Artist Magazine and the Pastel Journal have featured Mark in recent articles, and the list of students who have studied with Mark is growing each year, a fact most gratifying to the artist.
